“I am emailing to say what a wonderful experience the Killester String Ensemble girls had at your workshop and concert on Friday 9th September in Dandenong. The girls were very privileged to be able to take part in such a program as they don’t normally get access to such events. It was exactly the type of experience they needed to get them excited about their string playing and to see that it can be fun! Your show was truly electric – we all left on a high and the girls were still buzzing with enthusiasm the following Monday at school. Thankyou for accommodating our group and for providing such a worthwhile and enjoyable experience.” Debbie Haskell, Killester College, Springvale

DeepBlue have conducted workshops across Australia inspiring thousands of young musicians and we are passionate about encouraging young people to experience a new way of playing music.

On the day of each show, in every town, DeepBlue provide an opportunity to experience our unique approach to music and performance through an hour-long workshop. During the workshop participants will:

  • Meet with the performers and crew of DeepBlue
  • Workshop a piece of music, involving choreography and creativity
  • Experience the backstage atmosphere at a professional concert
  • Perform onstage with DeepBlue in the show!

We have developed a once in a lifetime opportunity for young musicians that is an unforgettable experience, a self-esteem booster and most importantly, a lot of fun.

We are now on the hunt for young string players to be part of YoungBlue all across Australia.

Months before DeepBlue even arrive in your town, families register online for the YoungBlue program – places are limited. Various YoungBlue resources will then be available to collect from your school or online, which will include sheet music, links or music and videos, plus other goodies we get from sponsors and supporters from time-to-time.

For more information regarding Timetable and Costumes please download our PDF here! This is an example timetable only, (workshops stay at the same time, performance times will change) your timetable will be sent to you once you have registered. To see which towns are open for registrations, please click here.

You can also download our YB Flyer here or contact us and we can post you some to distribute.

A place in the YoungBlue workshop program costs $30 and this includes the workshop fee, performance, resources and YoungBlue online access, plus a free ticket to the DeepBlue show. Bookings can be made through your teacher or online on our Registrations page and there are discounts for family members of YoungBlue participants to come and see the show.

‘Our Junior School girls performed with DeepBlue in concert in February 2008. They diligently learnt their parts and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing with “real (young and cool) musicians” in a public concert. The reaction from the crowd was great and the girls said they “felt like rock stars.” Our string program here at Somerville House is steeped in classical traditions and I was more than happy to give the girls an experience which was a bit different. In short, I would recommend the DeepBlue experience as a positive one and would certainly involve our girls again.” Loreta Fin, Director of Instrumental Music, Somerville House.
